Handmade Mexican Sterling Silver Cross with Turquoise

This hand-crafted sterling silver cross is a small masterpiece of Mexican silversmithing. Two heraldic doves face one another across the arms, surrounded by natural turquoise cabochons and anchored at the center by a faceted amethyst. Sterling scrollwork and silver balls travel the full perimeter of the cross adding a rich frame. This style, associated with the tradition of Matilde Poulat during the 1930s, and immortalized by Frida Kahlo, elevated pieces like this to become cult classics.
