A truly exceptional piece of Mexican silver artistry — this vintage, sterling silver snake necklace was crafted in Taxco, Mexico in 1959 by Salvador Juller Garcia, one of the many accomplished silversmith who gathered there to work along side of other artists, among them, the renown Margo de Taxco. Garcia was known for artistic, modern and often chunky designs. He produced high quality sterling silver jewelry (925 fine) His notable pieces include heavy spiral link braceletes, snakes necklaces, and puzzle bracelets. Hallmarked and dated, it is a rare and collectible example of mid-century Taxco craftsmanship at its finest.
The snake is comprised of 26 seamless articulated pieces that move fluidly together, creating an uninterrupted, sinuous silhouette that hugs the neck and collarbone beautifully. A hidden closure preserves the clean, sculptural design — there is nothing to interrupt the snake's elegant form.
