Arthus Bertrand 18k Gold Plique-à-Jour Taurus Zodiac Pendant

Founded in Paris in 1803 and still active today, Arthus Bertrand is one of France's most storied Maisons, celebrated for their exquisite enamel work, fine jewelry, and prestigious medals.

Plique-à-jour is among the most demanding of all enamel arts: translucent colored glass suspended in a metal framework with no backing, allowing light to pass through. 

This Taurus pendant belongs to their Zodiac Collection, produced circa 1970s when astrology captured the cultural imagination, and demand for zodiac jewelry was at its peak. The design is unmistakably Art Deco inspired, a nod to France's golden age of decorative arts.

Executed with all the precision and artistry the Maison is known for, the sweet bull is rendered in richly textured golden enamel. Surrounding it, six panes of brilliant red plique-à-jour glass catch the light like stained glass in miniature.
