A magnificent piece of English Victorian jewelry, this antique puffy mariner link necklace is a true showstopper. Crafted in the 19th century, the chain is unmarked but tested as sterling silver.
The gorgeous, large bolt ring is original to the chain and in perfect working condition. It can be removed and used with other chains in your collection, or it can easily support several charms or a large locket.
Unlike the solid watch chains used by Victorian gentlemen, women's necklaces and bracelets of the time were often "puffy" for comfortable wear. The large, hollow, mariner links are cleverly joined through twin openings, creating an alternating twist that catches the light with every movement. Utterly modern in its aesthetic, and so versatile, this is a chain is a true classic.
The Details:
Condition: Very good antique condition. The bolt ring is secure and functions perfectly. The puffy (hollow) links, typical of the period, have a few tiny dents that do not detract from the chain's beauty. You'll have to search for them. Please see the close-up images.
